Relative Space Studios creates beautiful, functional spaces that transform how people live and engage their interior environments.

A relaxing master suite getaway!

This couple wanted their master suite to be a modern yet luxurious, pampering escape from the hustle and bustle of commute living. We achieved this through the use of a soothing color palette, materials with a modern organic aesthetic and touches of luxury with a heated floor and multi-function shower.

Chic vintage inspired sitting room.

Starting with a chic and neutral color palette inspired by the Client's artwork the room is completed by curating a mix of new and antique furniture pieces and accessories to modernize the space whilst keeping with the apartment’s vintage sensibilities.

Light and bright

A low ceiling created by existing soffits was making the space feel closed in a small than it was. Cleaning up the ceiling lines to only include the structural beam, bringing the kitchen cabinets up to the ceiling and creating a stepped ceiling detail resulted in a space that feels open, fresh and chic.

Prairie Style Expansion

A rustic cabin in the woods goes modern.

The beautiful rural setting and simple, classic lines of the A-frame building lent itself to modernization while keeping the roots of the family history in place. Opening the kitchen up to the living area is not only brings in the natural light and elements but provides the perfect place for family to gather. Clean, modern finishes were chosen, as not to distract from the stunning natural backdrop, and a pop of color in the European-style kitchen helps to create a dynamic space.

A historic interior gets a signature look.

This vintage condo filled with lots of character needed a face lift! The client wanted to marry the historical integrity of the building with their own modern aesthetic. With that in mind I selected materials that added warmth and character, and paired them with clean modern lines. The condo space can only be described as rambling in nature and needed a full reimagining to become usable. I created a master suite, complete with custom walk in closet, out of the second kitchen and broke the old ballroom into a conventional den and dining room. With so much space the potential for rooms tailored to the owner’s lifestyle was huge – so I created a casual dining mezzanine and reading nook as bonus rooms bespoke to the client.

Chicago Condo Fireplace Makeover

Chic vintage inspired sitting room.

The basement den of this Bucktown residence needed a makeover and more storage and display space to pull the homeowner’s art collection together while maintaining a comfortable and contemporary feel. New millwork was designed to update and integrate with the existing fireplace.
